Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute

Neighbors to the White House, The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute recently moved their D.C. office to a new space that combines cutting-edge technology with a modern aesthetic. The Institute knew technology would play a large role in driving their mission of promoting President Reagan’s legacy and invested in a highly sophisticated audiovisual (AV) system. The AV system was designed to bring an enhanced experience to visitors and is centered on an impressive two story video wall that can be viewed through a beautiful glass façade.

Cerami was responsible for the AV consultation and partnered with DI, the AV integrator, to offer a turn-key technology solution for the space. With upgraded technology in the facility, the Institute is better equipped to honor President Reagan’s ideas and leadership through youth education and academic alliances, scholarly work, and substantive, issue-driven forums and to allow visitors to interact with history.

“We wanted people to have a 21st-Century experience as they understood and learned more about President Reagan’s time in office,” states Roger Zakheim, Director of the Ronald Reagan Institute.

DI helped turn the Institute’s vision of a 21st-Century experience into a reality with a full-facility audiovisual installation. When designing the space, a key component for The Institute was the ability to produce live and virtual events through hybrid AV systems. The systems include a multipurpose room, lobby area, green room, classroom, boardroom, media room, and office area.

The multipurpose room features a live production suite, two 137″ diagonal Planar LED displays, a soft video conferencing system, a Crestron Video Matrix switcher, Shure wireless microphones, and an assistive listening system to ensure clarity and accessibility to any event at the Institute, be it in-person or virtual.

The most sophisticated technology can be found in the Al and Denise Frink Legacy Hall. The most striking feature of this space is a two-story Planar LED Video Wall. In addition to playing the custom content created by DI, the AV system can easily be transformed for events, allowing for streaming and live broadcasting.

With the prominent position of the video wall, the Institute knew that the content was vital to projecting its message onto the streets of DC. DI worked with the Institute to create multiple videos that the public can control using a touch panel system, including a feature video that incorporates footage and photographs depicting President Reagan’s Legacy and narration by Tom Brokaw.
