Matisse and PDP Study Rooms

The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) has long focused on acquiring and bringing the world’s most influential art to Baltimore. An essential part of their process is reviewing and discussing newly acquired pieces in study rooms before placing them on display for the public. The recent renovation of the Matisse and PDP study rooms features audiovisual systems installed by Design & Integration (DI) that improve the BMA’s collaborative process.

It was essential to the BMA that their system blended in with the elevated aesthetics of the rooms. We were able to meet this goal by concealing as much of the AV equipment as possible. Each study room features a complete system that includes projectors, screens, document cameras, and ceiling speakers. By choosing either hydraulically powered or ceiling-mounted equipment, most of the room’s equipment is not visible in between uses.

Ceiling-mounted Wolfvision document cameras allow the BMA staff to place an object or document on the table and easily share live images onto the rooms’ projector screens. The Wolfvision cameras feature laser marking guides and autofocus, which make the placement of the artwork easy and intuitive. Mounting the cameras in the ceiling minimizes the amount of hardware on the table, making the space more versatile for conferencing and other collaborative uses. Draper Aerolift and Electric Projection Screens enable the end-users to stow the projection equipment away at the touch of a button.

The Crestron touch panels in each room allow the end-user to easily select the intended routing source and adjust the room’s zoned lighting. The Mersive Solstice Pod adds collaborative capabilities to any meeting by enabling participants to cast content from their devices to the rooms’ projector screens.

We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with a beloved Baltimore institution and neighbor. We are incredibly proud of the clean audiovisual system we installed in the BMA‘s beautiful space.
