The Mather at Tysons

Senior Living Community

Mather, an award-winning senior living provider, unveiled its 27-story luxury high-rise in Tysons, Virginia, in the spring of 2024. In addition to upscale residential accommodations, The Mather at Tysons features an array of thoughtfully designed amenity spaces, including a vibrant community center, multiple dining venues with a bar and lounge, arts and multipurpose rooms, state-of-the-art fitness and wellness centers, heated saltwater pool, and a rooftop terrace. The community also includes dedicated marketing offices and fully equipped conference rooms to support ongoing operations.

Design & Integration (DI) equipped the amenity spaces with cutting-edge audiovisual technology to support Mather’s vision of enriching resident experiences. A building-wide Dante-networked audio system delivers high-quality, ambient music throughout, creating a calm and consistent atmosphere in every space. Crestron room scheduling touchscreens provide clear, real-time visibility into event times and locations, helping residents and guests stay informed and engaged.

A standout feature of our work can be seen in the all-day dining Copas Bar, where 55” Sony displays are seamlessly integrated into Nexus Flipdown & Extend TV lifts, allowing the screens to discreetly retract into the ceiling above the bar, when not in use. Complementing the visual setup, 6” Bose in-ceiling speakers enhance the space’s audio experience as part of an Atlas-supported sound system. Additionally, the area is equipped with assisted listening solutions from Williams, ensuring accessibility for all guests.

Nafasi, a divisible multipurpose space, features a 164” diagonal Planar TVF video wall, complemented by multiple 98” Panasonic displays to support high-impact visual presentations. Seamless streaming of events to any location within the building is achievable through integrated Vaddio in-wall RoboSHOT cameras, Crestron’s AirMedia receiver, Vitec encoders and players, and NVX AV-over-IP distribution. For audio, Shure ceiling microphones provide comprehensive room coverage while their wired and wireless microphones are employed for sound reinforcement.  Additionally, a Williams assistive listening induction loop system ensures that presenters’ voices and program audio are wirelessly transmitted directly to compatible hearing aids, supporting an inclusive experience for all attendees. Most of these features can also be found in Mather’s Arbor Row Center.

DI’s system integration extends beyond the interior, enhancing outdoor spaces as well. Surface-mount speakers on the terrace of the Group Exercise area allow guests to take their sessions outside while enjoying music. Instructors can easily select and control audio independently, ensuring a seamless and flexible experience. Additionally, the rooftop space, Sora, is outfitted with discreet yet powerful Bose landscape speakers, delivering high-quality audio that complements the open-air ambiance.

From advanced AV systems to inclusive listening technology, every element supports Mather’s modern vision for senior living. By blending innovative AV systems with the community’s elegant design, DI has helped create a dynamic environment where technology quietly supports connection, wellness, and an elevated quality of life.
